Description:

Amid strategic rivalries between the United States and China, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) finds itself at the center of a shifting geopolitical landscape. As both major powers compete, ASEAN must carefully navigate competing pressures while preserving its centrality, unity, and autonomy. Through a combination of diplomacy, engagement, and economic diversification, ASEAN seeks to balance relations with both powers without being drawn into forced alignment choices. Understanding ASEAN’s strategic navigation of US–China competition reveals its broader role in shaping regional stability.

ASEAN's Strategic Navigation of US-China Competition explores how Southeast Asian nations navigate and respond to the intensifying strategic competition between the United States and China in the region. It examines the diverse strategies that each ASEAN country has developed, from hedging strategies to forms of soft alliance, aimed at maximizing national interests within a complex geopolitical context. This book covers topics such as diplomacy, policymaking, and business strategy, and is a useful resource for government officials, business owners, academicians, researchers, and scientists.
