IGI Global is spearheading a truly transformative open access agreement which empowers institutions in the academic community. These agreements ensure institutions can acquire access to needed research, mitigates “double dipping,” and provides a sustainable source of OA funding.

How Does This Initiative Work?
  1. Transformative open access funding can be awarded based on the value of the e-Collection(s) acquired. Contingent on the agreement reached, funding can also provide support for diamond OA journals, and/or funding an OA reference book.
  2. Open access APC/CPC funds will be utilized immediately at the onset of the Transformative Agreement, where published research (with IGI Global) from the institution’s faculty will receive the CC BY license (wherein the author maintains the copyright) and become freely accessible immediately. (These open access funds can only be applied based on affiliation of corresponding/lead authorship and are not available for supporting authorship. Your IGI Global representative will lead the research selection process and all conversions are at the discretion of IGI Global.)
  3. If (by chance) there are no previously published articles/chapters, IGI Global will revisit the institution’s contributions at the close of the annual agreement and retroactively open recently published papers.
  4. Open access funds cannot be applied as a refund to Article Processing Charges (APCs) or Chapter Processing Charges (CPCs) submitted by faculty before, during, or after the transformative agreement is initiated.
  5. Open access funds expire after the 12-month period from the date agreement is entered. (Extensions may be approved by IGI Global management.)
