Introduction

"Materialism, Social Media, and Human Connection in the Digital Age" explores how social media platforms and digital consumer culture are transforming modern human behavior, emotional relationships, and family dynamics. In today’s digital society, online validation, influencer culture, material success, and economic status increasingly shape personal identity, social values, and perceptions of love and happiness. Drawing on interdisciplinary perspectives from Psychology, Sociology, Media Studies, and behavioral science, this book examines the psychological and social impact of digital environments on individuals and relationships. It offers a critical understanding of how contemporary digital culture is redefining human connection and emotional well-being in the modern age.

Objective

The main aim of the book is to examine how the social media platforms and digital consumer culture have transformed modern human behavior, emotional relationships, and family dynamics. This book explores the growing influence of materialism, online validation, influencer culture, and economic status on interpersonal connections and perceptions of love, success, and identity. Through interdisciplinary perspectives from psychology, sociology, media studies, and behavioral science, the book investigates how digital environments shape emotional well-being, romantic expectations, and social values in contemporary society. Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before June 21, 2026, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by July 5, 2026 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters of a minimum of 10,000 words (word count includes references and related readings) are expected to be submitted by August 23, 2026, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-anonymized review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
