Introduction

The book will focus on collective care practices that are present in social work and human service organizations, including practice, research, and education. Chamberlain (2020) describes collective care as an approach to institutionalizing self-care in policies and organizational culture. Authors will share innovative practices that add to sustainability in these various professions in the face of personal burnout and societal stressors. Topics will range from organizational, holistic, and innovative practices to support the current social work and human service organizations as well as future professionals.

Objective

This book will: 1.Define and operationalize collective care as a framework for social work and human service organizations and professionals, across policy, research and practice. 2. Describe an overview of the interdisciplinary and conceptual foundation and current state of the literature on collective care, and areas of emerging research and practices on this framework. 3. Highlight promising models, projects, and case examples of emerging collective care in practice across various arenas. 4.Apply actionable strategies, recommendations, and practices for implementation of a collective care framework across sectors. 5. Envision future opportunities for the application of a collective care framework.

Target Audience

The audience for this book includes professionals in social work and human service organizations, leaders, policy makers, and educators, specifically those who work with students in social work and human service training programs. The book can be useful as a guide to create a shift within organizations and the larger society to combat grind culture, personal burnout, and societal stressors.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before June 28, 2026, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by July 5, 2026 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters of a minimum of 10,000 words (word count includes references and related readings) are expected to be submitted by July 26, 2026, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-anonymized review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Collective Care Practice in Social Work and Human Service Organizations. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-anonymized peer review editorial process.
