Introduction

The growing importance of youth entrepreneurship as a key enabler for socio-economic growth is well appreciated in today's world. However, the determinants of entrepreneurial mindset of youth in terms of its formation and maintenance are not well understood, especially from an international perspective. This edited volume offers an interdisciplinary insight into how formal and informal institutions influence the entrepreneurial mindsets and resilience of youth in different nations. The focus here is more on cross-national comparisons rather than Western-centric approaches.

Objective

The purpose of this book is to enhance the knowledge concerning institutional, cultural, and personal factors influencing youth entrepreneurial mindset and resilience. The book endeavors to achieve this by doing the following: investigating how formal institutions influence entrepreneurship, including regulatory structures, the policy environment, and educational systems; analyzing the psychological and behavioral aspects of entrepreneurial mindset within different cultures; using resilience as an intermediary linking the individual entrepreneurial mind to institutional analysis at the macro level; and producing cross-country empirical comparisons from different bodies of research.

Target Audience

This book is aimed at academics researching the field of entrepreneurship, international business, management and allied social sciences, educators involved in the design or redesign of entrepreneurship programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, policy makers, and development organizations focusing on youth entrepreneurship and institutional change, and practitioners involved in international entrepreneurship networks, especially those emerging or transitional economies.

Institutional frameworks and entrepreneurial ecosystems Formal and informal institutions and entrepreneurial intent Educational institutions as incubators of entrepreneurial mindset Locus of control, self-efficacy, and entrepreneurial behaviour Risk perception, innovativeness, and need for achievement across cultures Gender, identity, and institutional constraints on entrepreneurship Digital entrepreneurship and the post-pandemic youth entrepreneur Entrepreneurial resilience as an institutional product Youth entrepreneurship in fragile and post-conflict states Diaspora entrepreneurship and transnational resilience Access to finance and structural barriers to youth entrepreneurship Policy responses to youth entrepreneurial resilience Cross-national comparative models of entrepreneurial mindset
