Introduction

In a context marked by economic volatility, social inequality, and environmental urgency, the pursuit of sustainability has become one of the central challenges for twenty-first-century economies. New Paths to Sustainable Economics in Ibero-America seeks to explore how Ibero-American nations are redefining economic paradigms to address these interconnected challenges through innovative, inclusive, and sustainable models. Bringing together perspectives from economics, management, governance, and social sciences, this volume provides a platform for critical reflection on emerging strategies that reconcile growth, equity, and ecological responsibility. Through multidisciplinary analyses, the book will examine how public institutions, corporations, and communities across Ibero-America are fostering transformative practices that align with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda. By linking theory and practice, it aims to illuminate the distinct social, political, and economic dimensions shaping sustainable transformation in the region.

Objective

This book aims to identify, document, and analyze innovative approaches to sustainable economic development across Ibero-American contexts. Specifically, it seeks to: Contribute to the academic discussion on sustainability by examining regionally grounded economic and social innovation models. Bridge research and practice through empirical case studies, comparative analyses, and theoretical reflections that illustrate pathways toward systemic transformation. Provide policy insight and strategic guidance for leaders, researchers, and organizations striving to integrate sustainability into economic governance. Advance the global understanding of how Ibero-America’s distinctive historical, cultural, and institutional realities can inform broader international debates on the future of sustainable economies. By doing so, this volume will add to current research by connecting local experiences with global frameworks, offering new conceptual and practical tools to scholars and practitioners alike.

The book is primarily intended for academics, researchers, and postgraduate students in the fields of economics, management, sustainability studies, and public administration.
