Introduction

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the way cities are planned, managed, and sustained. The integration of AI-driven technologies into urban systems has opened new opportunities for developing resilient, efficient, and sustainable smart cities capable of addressing modern urban challenges such as climate change, energy management, transportation, public safety, healthcare, governance, and resource optimization. This edited book aims to bring together researchers, academicians, industry professionals, policymakers, and practitioners to explore innovative approaches, frameworks, technologies, and applications of AI in designing resilient and sustainable smart cities. The book will serve as a comprehensive reference for emerging trends, practical implementations, and future directions in AI-enabled urban development.

Objective

The book Designing Resilient and Sustainable Smart Cities With AI aims to explore the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in developing sustainable, resilient, and intelligent urban environments. It seeks to provide comprehensive insights into emerging technologies, innovative frameworks, and practical applications of AI in smart city domains such as transportation, energy management, healthcare, governance, environmental sustainability, and public safety. This book will contribute to current research by presenting interdisciplinary perspectives, recent advancements, practical case studies, and future research directions in AI-enabled smart cities.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before June 10, 2026, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by June 24, 2026 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters of a minimum of 10,000 words (word count includes references and related readings) are expected to be submitted by August 12, 2026, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-anonymized review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Designing Resilient and Sustainable Smart Cities With AI. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-anonymized peer review editorial process.
