Introduction

The rapid evolution of the Industrial Metaverse is transforming the way industries design, operate, train, collaborate, and innovate within digitally connected environments. By integrating Extended Reality (XR) technologies—including Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR)—with artificial intelligence (AI), digital twins, IoT, cloud computing, and industrial automation, organizations are creating immersive ecosystems that bridge the physical and digital worlds. The Industrial Metaverse enables real-time simulation, remote operations, predictive maintenance, collaborative engineering, intelligent manufacturing, and advanced workforce training across sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, energy, logistics, smart cities, education, and cybersecurity. Despite the increasing global interest in the Industrial Metaverse, many technical, ethical, operational, and security challenges remain unresolved. Issues related to interoperability, cybersecurity, data privacy, human-machine interaction, scalability, governance, and sustainable deployment continue to shape the future direction of this emerging field. Furthermore, industries require practical frameworks and innovative methodologies to effectively integrate XR technologies into industrial environments while maximizing efficiency, safety, and user experience. This book, titled Enhancing the Industrial Metaverse With Extended Reality, aims to provide comprehensive insights into the convergence of XR technologies and industrial metaverse applications. It explores theoretical foundations, emerging technologies, practical implementations, industrial case studies, security considerations, and future research trends that are driving the next generation of immersive industrial ecosystems. The book will serve as a valuable reference for researchers, academics, industry professionals, policymakers, and technology developers seeking to understand and advance the Industrial Metaverse landscape.

Objective

The primary objective of this book is to explore how Extended Reality technologies can enhance the Industrial Metaverse by improving operational efficiency, human-machine collaboration, immersive visualization, industrial training, remote maintenance, cybersecurity awareness, and intelligent decision-making. Highlight future research directions and emerging trends shaping the next generation of industrial immersive technologies. Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before June 11, 2026, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by June 25, 2026 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters of a minimum of 10,000 words (word count includes references and related readings) are expected to be submitted by August 13, 2026, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-anonymized review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
