Mohamed Sobih Aly Mekawy is an Associate Professor at Stockholm University with more than 20 years of experience in academia and the university–industry landscape. His expertise centers on the cognitive aspects of Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) within Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Building Information Modelling (BIM). His research portfolio also extends to Business–IT Alignment and IT Governance, reflecting a strong academic foundation and a comprehensive understanding of these interconnected fields.

Dr. Mekawy has extensive experience teaching, conducting, and publishing across a wide range of research methodologies, with particular emphasis on qualitative, mixed-methods, and design-based research. His instructional approach is shaped by decades of practical application and scholarly inquiry, creating a rich and well-rounded learning environment for his students.

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Mekawy brings more than 15 years of professional field experience in the design, development, and technical support of GIS applications. He has led numerous projects that draw on his technical skills and innovative problem-solving abilities, consistently contributing to enhanced project outcomes and advancements in the field.
