Spotlight Titles for National Mentoring Month

By IGI Global Scientific Publishing on Jan 4, 2016
Established in 2002 by the Harvard School of Public Health, the month of January is commemorated as National Mentoring Month (NMM), setting aside time to focus national attention on the need for mentors, as well as how each of us—individuals, businesses, government agencies, schools, faith communities and nonprofits—can work together to increase the number of mentors to assure positive outcomes for young people.

NMM celebrates mentoring and the positive effect it can have on young lives. Its goals are to:
  • Raise awareness of mentoring in its various forms.
  • Recruit individuals to mentor, especially in programs that have waiting lists of young people.
  • Promote the rapid growth of mentoring by recruiting organizations to engage their constituents in mentoring.
Promoting Global Literacy Skills through Technology-Infused Teaching and Learning In observance of this event, IGI Global would like to bring attention to a few premier reference sources that support this valuable cause.

Promoting Global Literacy Skills through Technology-Infused Teaching and Learning examines the function and role of globalization in 21st century teaching and learning, especially in light of technology integration and the need to prepare and empower global educators and global citizens respectively. Covering topics that range from social networking in linguistics to software used in engineering curricula, this premier reference work will be relevant to academicians, researchers, students, librarians, practitioners, professionals, and engineers. Edited by Jared Keengwe (University of North Dakota, USA), Justus G. Mbae (Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Kenya) and Simon K. Ngigi (Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Kenya), this premier reference work is part of the Advances in Educational Technologies and Instructional Design (AETID) Book Series.
